Meribel has a wide range of restaurants to suit most tastes. We have listed what we consider to be the best value restaurants in Meribel , Mottaret and the villages. Traditional Savoyard dishes are to be found in most. For dinner, many Meribel restaurants try to stagger arrivals so they have 2 sittings. Normally around 7/7.30pm and then again about 9/9.30pm. For reservations contact restaurants directly or speak to your chalet manager.

Each restaurant is given a rating based on one main course:
On a budget: roughly between €15 and €20.
In-betweener, sit down restaurant: around €20 and €25.
Splashing out, Meribel’s finest (prices vary).


In Meribel


La Galette

This inexpensive little restaurant tucked up near the Galerie des Cimes above the Tourist Office has been welcoming its visitors for years. Christophe and his team who run the kitchen, offer a varied menu combining salty and sweet pancakes, salads, pizzas and traditional Savoyard specialties. The owners are delightful and they create a warm and friendly atmosphere for everyone. Families will usually prefer the first early meal servings at around 7pm. The 2nd is about 9pm.

L'Igloo

Situated in Meribel centre just 100m uphill from the tourist office. This place has an actual L’igloo built inside which makes it fabulous for families and large groups. L’Igloo is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a relaxed vibe where you can expect delicious pizzas, burgers and tapas, as well as a variety of cocktails all for a reasonable price.

Barometer

Located in the heart of Meribel, this sophisticated bar, restaurant and lounge will bring joy to anyone who loves pizzas, British classics and cocktails. The menu is quite a mix of international cuisine favourites, always made with the freshest ingredients and at a reasonable price. If you choose to stay after dinner and socialise, your evening will be complete with their everyday 2-for-1 cocktail deals from 23:00 – 00:00.

Lilie

Where? Ideally located at the "Rond-Point des Pistes", opposite the well known après bar "Rond Point". A great ski in ski out location makes it the perfect spot to stop off for lunch.
Food? Lilie succeeds the emblematic Bistrot de L'Orée. The Lilie provides “simple and good” homemade French cuisine! With a magnificent open kitchen and a cosy a fireplace, Lilie creates the perfect atmosphere to indulge and enjoy the local French cuisine.
What else? Lilie combines a bar, restaurant and local shop, all in a cozy and warm atmosphere just like at home. The central bar with a trendy spirit creates the perfect environment to taste wines, cocktails and small bites. Also Lilie houses an onsite with a fine selection of aged cheeses, fine charcuterie, homemade dishes to take away or be delivered to your home and a wine cellar full of surprises!

Copiña

When dining in at Copiña you can expect professionally designed cocktails, carefully hand-selected craft beers, an array of world wines, and an exceptional spread of traditional homemade tapas. La Coursive des Alpes

This new restaurant and a lounge bar in the centre of Meribel is located at the old cinema building. The interior with high ceilings makes it quite a unique dining spot where you can relax and enjoy your evening. The ground floor has a cozy bar for an aperitif dinner and upstairs you will find the restaurant dining room. See their full menu here.

Le Close Up

A new restaurant with lots of charm, delicious food and excellent reviews. It is located on the first floor at the Galerie des Cimes, a 100m walk uphill from the Meribel Tourist office. The menu here consists of classic Savoyard specialities, meat dishes and burgers. At the end of the meal François, who is a very talented magician drops by your table with some of his magic tricks. A fascinating way to end the evening and you can even win a discount on your meal by solving one of his proposed puzzles.

La Taverne (bar) (restaurant)

Although the bar does serve excellent bar snacks, sandwiches, burgers and salads, downstairs there is an à la carte menu with a wide variety of international cuisine and Savoyard specialities. Located right in the heart of Meribel town centre, just a stone’s throw from the Doron piste, La Taverne Bar is open from 08:00 until 01:30 every day during winter. The bistro is open from 18:30 until 22:00. As well as the food, La Taverne is one of Meribel's most popular bars with regular promotions, live music, DJs and special events. Keep an eye on their events page for regular happy hours, big-screen sporting events and music from the best bands and DJs around.

La Flambée /

Known as the Meribel’s Italian restaurant. La Flambée is the place for you if your children are pizza and pasta fans, whilst you would prefer a more traditional, local dish. The varied menu includes a selection to suit everyone and, whilst perhaps not as gourmet as some other restaurants, it’s never disappointing, given the reasonable pricing. All the food here is cooked specially to order so be prepared to relax and enjoy your pre-dinner drinks.

La Fromagerie

As you’d expect from the name, the menu is focused predominantly around cheese. So, if you’re looking for a cheese feast - this is the place for you. Its traditional and rustic interior certainly makes it one to remember and if at the end of the meal you haven’t already had enough cheese, they have a cheese shop upstairs where you can buy some to take home. Brewer's Den - O’Sullivans

Steering away from the usual pizza/pasta/burger menus, Brewer's Den offers barbeque sharer plates and in house-smoked meat dishes served on chopping blocks or charcoal slates, letting you indulge in a bit of everything. It is located above Meribel’s main club, O’Sullivans, and if you eat in the restaurant you gain free entry to the club downstairs!

Le Bistro du Monchu Meribel (Les Soirèes du Mercredi) /

Wednesday evenings only
Le Monchu is located underneath the Adret chairlift, just slightly higher than mid-station Rhodos, where the friendly owners Julie and Maxime have been welcoming visitors for over three years. Each Wednesday they extend their opening hours into the evening to offer an unforgettable dining experience. Once collected from Meribel Centre, you will then be escorted to the restaurant on a Snow Groomer (informally known in the UK as a Piste Basher), before being welcomed to the restaurant with an aperitif and enjoying a typical Savoyard meal. La Kouisena /

A true institution in Meribel for more than 25 years, La Kouisena immerses you in the Savoyard evening of yesteryear with traditional music, staff in Savoyard attire, and the typical decor of mountain chalets. Here you’ll find traditional Savoyard cooking with all the classic elements. The emphasis here is very much on local cuisine, char grilled steaks, kebabs and lamb.

Brasserie Le 80 at Hotel Kaila

Where? Located in the luxury 5 star Hotel Kaila, Le 80 is only a short stroll from the Meribel Chaudanne.
Food? At Le 80, in a decor with hot-air balloons hanging from the ceiling, a classic and traditional French spirit is proudly cultivated in the tasty, nicely presented cuisine. For instance, red tuna ceviche with lime, yuzu ponzu and sesame oil, or the free-range pork chop smoked in hay.
What else? Hotel Kaila hosts the only restaurants in Meribel that have been awarded Michelin Stars.

Le Refuge /

Centrally located Le Refuge has an excellent pizzeria downstairs (where the menu also includes steak, tartiflette and a couple of pasta dishes but not much else) and a restaurant upstairs with a much more traditional menu. The chef will surprise you with new flavors: a bistronomic menu featuring traditional cuisine with fresh new products! There’s also a choice of no less than 8 fondues is available which you can enjoy in front of a cozy, rustic fireplace.

In Meribel Village


La Terrasse Du Village /

Meribel Village’s popular Brasserie has been a local favourite for a while. The culinary team here uses only carefully sourced local and international ingredients which create a menu that is fresh and innovative while at the same time hearty and homely. Reserve a table here if you love the sound of homemade foie gras terrine, Peruvian ceviche, pata negra Iberico ham, charolais beef carpaccio or the finest cuts of black Aberdeen Angus beef. Le Bô À Mil

The first thing that will probably strike you about Le Bô À Mil is how un-striking it is from the outside! We promise it is worth it though, entering past an old horse drawn cart you are shown into a tiny bar and then the restaurant opens out into a real underground cavern. The menu is not too extensive meaning that every dish is cooked to perfection – but you can still choose anything from traditional French cuisine to local Savoyard specialities.

In Morel and the Altiport


Le Clos Benard /

Wednesday evenings only
Le Clos Benard is a true hidden gem. This unique and charming restaurant is nestled in the forest and most easily accessed from the Altiport. Of an evening, the restaurant can be accessed on foot or by horse drawn carriage. It’s advisable to get a taxi to the Altiport car park, where you can then walk to the restaurant along the marked footpath. Just remember to wear your snow boots!

Alternatively, book transport on the horse drawn carriage which will transport you safely from the car park to the restaurants idyllic forest location. Here you can expect fresh produce, grilled meats and regional dishes. Take a look at their menu here.

Aux Petits Oignons

Aux Petits Oignons is found in Morel, just above Meribel Centre at Meribel 1600. It is a small restaurant with a limited menu of rich traditional French dishes, world cuisine and vegetarian dishes all of superb quality. The lovely atmosphere lasts well into the evening when the place turns into a lively bar often showcasing Meribel’s musical talent The restaurant is open from 19:00 to 22:00 every evening except Sunday.

Chez Kiki, Altitude 1600

A famous restaurant in Morel, Meribel 1600. The head chef David has been here for many years. He cooks delicious, char-grilled steaks, racks of lamb and cote de boeuf on the log fire in the centre of the restaurant, while in the kitchen his lovely wife Lauriane prepares your starters, Savoyard specialities, and delicious desserts. Lauriane has built up a great reputation in Meribel and is now especially regarded as the “Pastry Chef” of Chez Kiki. A very cosy atmosphere and fantastic wine, although rather expensive.

Tsaretta Spice /

Tsaretta Spice is listed amongst the best restaurants in Meribel on TripAdvisor, which makes it quite the culinary hotspot for anyone in love with spice. The only Indian restaurant in the resort will surprise with the quality of their dishes, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Head Chef, Yousuf Mohammed, and his team of experienced Indian chefs bring you an exciting and original menu of amazing dishes. Yousuf comes from a legacy of some of the best Indian restaurants in the UK, including The Bombay Brasserie, Dishoom, Imli (Tamarind), Veeraswamy and Mint & Mustard. It is located on the Route de l’Altiport just next to main shops in Morel.

Le Bistro De L’oree

A wonderful dinner and lunch venue just next to the Rond Point in Meribel. Getting here with the bus is easy, just catch the Line C going up to Altiport and get off at the Rond Point bus stop. The restaurant serves French bistro style food of the highest quality from renowned chef Sylvain Chardonnet. They will be changing their concept for the new winter season so be sure to check the website and see what’s on offer.

Adray Telebar

Tucked into the slopes at the foot of the Adret chairlift, this upmarket restaurant is perfect for a Savoyard treat, day or night. You can dine in the comfort of the cosy interior with its open fire and beautiful traditional décor. For dinner time guests, if you park up nearby they will run a skidoo service to collect you from your car which adds a little excitement to your evening!

Le Blanchot

Another gourmet restaurant, Le Blanchot is situated on the road up to the Altiport, conveniently on the free bus route! The dining room is filled with the warmth of the fire, where you can relax whilst you pick from a mouth-watering selection of contemporary dishes. Leave room for dessert though – they are something of a speciality here. You will also find Le Blanchot in the French Michelin guide 2020.

In Les Allues


Le Martagon

Le Martagon is in Le Raffort, a small village on the way to Les Allues. It is a great value restaurant, worth the detour from Meribel Centre, centred around a lovely log fire which provides grilled food in the evening as well as Savoyard specialities. You can take the free Line A bus to Le Raffort bus stop or if you’re arriving with a car, you can park for free right in front of the restaurant.

La Tsaretta

Located on a side street just off the centre of the Les Allues village, La Tsaretta is a great place with a lovely atmosphere. The food is wide ranging and caters for all tastes with local cuisine, classic French dishes and an international flavour that sees seafood, Thai and British on the menu. They also do superb take away pizzas and a great selection of tasty bar food. To get here, you can take the free Line A bus from Meribel which stops in the centre of the village.

En’K

This is the hidden secret of Les Allues. It is extremely popular with the local French and the British community who live down here. It serves really delicious home family style cooking. When you enter you feel like you have been invited to dinner in their own home! They also serve the whole menu as a takeaway option. Find En’K just above the old oven in the village centre. L’Arbe /

Located just at the Les Allues bus stop, L’Arbe is a charming traditional restaurant. Julian the patron and chef serves up super quality food at extremely reasonable prices. You can enjoy a full 3 course dinner here for about 30 Euros (+ wine). Incredible value for Meribel. Unsurprisingly, that is the reason it is very popular with locals.

This wonderful historic hotel restaurant is just a 2-minute walk from the bus stop in Les Allues. It is renowned for its exceptional food, wine and service. Come down, enjoy a superb meal, and experience the charming atmosphere of a true ancient mountain village at the same time.

In Mottaret


Côte Brune

The Côte Brune in Mottaret centre, just opposite the Mottaret tourist office is a warm andintimate venue for dinner. Located only 5 minutes from Meribel on the free Meribus service, it’s very easy to reach. The atmosphere is very relaxed in true Savoyard style. It has an extensive A La Carte menu and varied wine list with local and world wines. Be sure to try to reserve in advance as in high season this charming restaurant gets very busy.

Le Rastro

The restaurant also mentioned in our Lunch spots guide, has been famous and popular with the Brits for many years now. The food is really good here and very fair prices. It is run by Chris & Rachi Lau. A lovely interior and great sun terrace later in season. Live music is on Tuesday afternoons for Apres ski. Catch the bus Line D from Meribel centre to get to Mottaret and the restaurant is a 2-minute walk from the central bus stop.

La Terrasse du Mottaret

La Terrasse is a super restaurant with a giant heated marquee right by the piste. A good value venue for lunch and a candlelit dinner. Famous for it’s pizzas. Occasional live music adds charm to the evening atmosphere. Zig Zag

A lovely little cafe style restaurant run by the charming “Annette” with cafe style prices to match. Super food with a good selection and their renowned “Pierre Chaud”. The hot plate where you cook your own meats on your table. Everything is freshly made in house and so if there is sometimes a little wait for your food, it is inevitably going to be worth it! Extremely popular in Meribel. It only seats around 20 people inside, so be sure to book in advance.

La Brizolée

In a typical alpine chalet atmosphere, try their delicious Savoyard specialties; old-fashioned raclette, Savoyard fondue, hot stone, Mont d'Or or even tartiflette and its Savoy charcuterie. The chef here, Olivier Rouffignac also offers you a more refined cuisine with homemade foie gras, beef tenderloin, beef rib, prawns and scallops skewers, homemade risotto, all at middle of the range prices. There are children's and skier's menus available, as well as a great range of home-made desserts.
