About Ski Basics
Méribel is our home. Ski holidays are what we do best.
Ski Basics has been welcoming guests to Méribel since 2000. What began with just two chalets has grown into an established, independent chalet holiday company, built on a simple idea: great accommodation, friendly service and excellent value for money.
More than 25 years later, we're still doing what we love, in the resort we know best.
How it all began
Our story started in 1999, when a winter working as a chalet host in Méribel turned into something much more. That first season was spent looking after guests at Chalet Sureaux, a chalet that remains part of the Ski Basics story today, now providing accommodation for our seasonal team.
For several years, summers were spent working as a freelance land surveyor around Bath, while winters were all about Méribel. But the pull of the mountains was hard to resist.
In 2000, Ski Basics was established with just two chalets and a straightforward ambition: to offer comfortable, well-run chalet holidays with good food, friendly service and excellent value.
Méribel is our home
As more guests discovered Ski Basics, the company began to grow. In 2003, the business became a family partnership, and together we continued building Ski Basics, welcoming new chalets, new team members and, most importantly, returning guests.
By 2007, Méribel had become much more than somewhere to spend the winter. We made it our permanent home, raising our three children here and becoming part of the local community.
Living in Méribel year-round has shaped the way we run Ski Basics. We know the resort, its people and its mountains, and that local knowledge helps us give our guests the best possible experience. While other companies have expanded into multiple resorts, we've chosen to concentrate on the place we know and love.
Méribel isn't just where we work. It's where we live.
The Ski Basics approach
From the beginning, our philosophy has been simple: offer great ski holidays at sensible prices, without compromising on the things that matter.
We believe it's the little things that make a holiday special. A warm welcome when you arrive, a comfortable chalet to return to, delicious food after a day on the slopes and a friendly team who genuinely care about your stay.
Today, our range of classic, plus+ and Self-catered chalets gives guests the freedom to choose the holiday that suits them, whether that's a catered experience or the flexibility of doing things their own way. Whatever you choose, our focus remains the same: quality, value and personal service.
