We asked this year’s Ski Basics team to share some of their favourite memories from life in the Three Valleys. Here, Issy reflects on an incredible five months in Chalet Blanchot and the friendships and experiences that made the season so special.
Five Unforgettable Months in the Mountains
My season in Meribel as a host in Chalet Blanchot was truly a magical experience. I’ll never be able to thank the incredible Ski Basics team enough for five unforgettable months in the mountains. Every week brought new guests, new stories, and new memories, and there was something so special about sharing the experience of Meribel with people from all over the world.
Every Day in Meribel Was Different
One of my favourite things about the season was how differently everyone embraced the mountains. Most days, we’d find ourselves trying to keep up with one of the boys in the team who was determined to complete every single run in the Three Valleys before the season ended (which was very impressive). While he was ticking off runs, the rest of us were catching sunsets and finding the best apres spots after gorgeous days of skiing. Somehow, that mix of chaos, spontaneity, and laughter made every day unforgettable.
Mario Kart Sledging & Team Memories
One memory that perfectly sums up the season for me was our Mario Kart sledging race as a team. Despite coming last alongside one of my best friends, we laughed the entire way down and honestly felt like we had won because it was so much fun. Those are the moments I’ll remember forever, the kind that seem small at the time but end up meaning everything.
Leaving Meribel with Friendships for Life
I left Meribel in April teary eyed with friendships for life, memories I’ll never forget, and a place in the mountains that will always feel like home.
