We asked this year’s Ski Basics team to share some of their favourite memories from the winter and what made their season so special. Here, Molly reflects on five incredible months in the Three Valleys and the moments that made the experience unforgettable.

“One of the Best Things I’ve Ever Done”

Working for Ski Basics in Meribel has, without a doubt, been one of the best things I have ever done! They created such a welcoming family atmosphere from the outset, and we all bonded so quickly. It was such a great way to meet like-minded people, some of whom I know will be lifelong friends!

It is so hard to pick just one experience to sum up just how much fun we all had throughout the season, so instead I have chosen two.

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day in Meribel

Spending a winter season in Meribel is about so much more than skiing. From unforgettable apres afternoons to lifelong friendships and mountain birthdays, every seasonaire story is completely unique. The first was celebrating St Patrick’s day. The weather couldn’t have been better for it, and the snow conditions were amazing. The Irish girls were determined to make sure we all celebrated properly! We all got dressed up in green and had a brilliant morning ski. We then headed over to Ski Lodge, in La Tania, where we rounded off the day with undoubtedly some of the best apres all season.

A Mountain Birthday to Remember

The second was actually on my birthday, and we had decided to put our chalet hosting skills to good use and make a ‘charcuterski’ board on the side of the mountain. We went a bit overboard with the amount of food, but it was such a fun way to celebrate and to spend time with everyone in the sunshine! We of course had to head to Folie afterwards which was a definite highlight. It was obviously a completely different birthday to one you would experience at home, but absolutely one of my favourites!

I also can’t not mention the amount of skiing we were able to do! Everyone’s skiing improved by miles, and we were lucky enough to have a lesson with Parallel Lines in December, which set us up brilliantly for the season.

Saying Goodbye After an Incredible Winter

It was a very sad goodbye at Geneva airport in April, but I am so grateful to have worked for such a lovely company and to have spent 5 months with some amazing people!

Every season brings its own unforgettable moments, and Molly’s story perfectly captures what makes a winter with Ski Basics so special – amazing skiing, incredible friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
